It’s surely a faster way to travel

To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight and won’t fall on your head.’ — Boring

For those who don’t know what is Boring company — It is basically a company which digs tunnels in the ground to create highways and ease you from the regular trafic. for more info — boringcompany.com

Well, the idea seems pretty great and all the questions you might have in your head like what if there is earthquake, cost of building tunnels, how will I enter the tunnel, all these questions are answered in their website. https://www.boringcompany.com/faq

Another questions like problems with the tunnels, why this has not been done before and how it can be a terrible idea, these questions are answered very well by — Louis Vaught, in his quora post — https://www.quora.com/What-do-you-think-about-Elon-Musks-Boring-company.

I really admire what Elon Musk is doing with Boring and how it can radically transform our transformation system. The main problem is not there in the idea of Boring or whether it is feasible or not (coz costs will go down, so there is no problem with that). The problem is in the way we are restricting ourselves from participating in the society.

We all know that with the advent of internet and the revolution in our communication system, we have become less social and are always stuck with our smartphone. With Boring the similar thing is happening with our transportation. Think about it: You wake up in the morning with your phone, first thing you check is your social media, you get ready, go to your basement, hop into your tesla and inside one of the tunnels. Next thing you know is you are in your office in time. Seems great!! Now, imagine doing it everyday, every week, every month, to go anywhere. Earlier you were disconnected to your friends due to your phone, now you are disconnected to your society!

I know it is very early to say this and you might think that I am exaggerating but think about it, the direction at which we are going with these technology is ruining our social lives.

I don’t have any degree in sociology or phycology, so I am not sure how much impact will this have in our lives, this is just my view which I wanted to share. So please comment and contribute to this post
